April: Adventures and Easter

At the beginning of April Joyce came down to visit during conference weekend. I am so grateful for the chance we have to listen to the apostles and our prophet every six months!

The boys enjoyed lots of extra snuggles while we watched conference at home.

I even got fancy and made Justin pizza for lunch! homemade pizza is the best!

As an early birthday present Justin got a Frisbee golf cage from my parents and quickly got the neighborhood boys hooked too.

It is awesome to have great neighbors, and that those awesome neighbors have a swing set in their backyard.

We've also been to the park a few times, although now JJ gets to the top of the slide and says that it's too hard...

Some days this little whirlwind surprises me and sits still for a little while, watching him color is one of my favorite things.

Finally in April we finished JJ's playhouse, it was so exciting to finally see it put together and see JJ playing in it!

After all the walls were freshly painted I decided that the banister needed a little love too. Now if painting wood makes you cringe, tough luck. This is not an heirloom house and the wood isn't anything special.

See! look at what a wonderful difference that made!

we also discovered some lovely vintage linoleum underneath the carpet in our living room, I love uncovering things like this.

These two are two peas in a pod, and we always enjoy when we can visit daddy for lunch.

In April we went in for a 20 week ultrasound, and found out we are having.....

A BOY!

For Easter my Grandma, Grandpa, and the Irvings came up to have some fun and enjoy Easter with us.

We were able to host the Looney family Easter party this year!

it was such a beautiful day outside.

Every year they make an egg pinata for the kids, and since JJ is the smallest he got the first whack.

JJ really got into egg hunting this year especially after he figured out there was candy inside the eggs!

We also dyed Easter eggs, always a fun and messy experience.

We also went to a bees game with Jill and the kids! Wil even got a ball signed my CJ Cron and Luiz Jimenez! how awesome!

We originally wanted to go to the aquarium but since it had just opened they didn't have all of the animals moved over to the new place quite yet and was quite expensive. Our next thought was to go to the tulip festival at Thanksgiving Point and that is WAY expensive! We opted for going to temple square and seeing the beautiful flowers there for free, and to go to the ZOO.

I didn't get very many pictures that day but JJ loved seeing all the animals again!

What a stud in his bow tie for Easter!!!

We even had our first crop of asparagus, the plants were already there when we bought the house and couldn't wait to see what popped up.

This year we hid JJ's Easter basket in his play house and he was so excited to find it and all of the goodies inside!

He was totally eyeing that mini chocolate bunny.

We topped off Easter by having a wonderful dinner outside with everyone. I am so grateful for this awesome house we have to live in and that we have been able to Have so many people come to visit and celebrate here with us!

March: Birthday Boy & Spring Break

March was busy, surprise, surprise. With my goal of catching up on the blog before the little one comes here goes! It started getting warmer in March and we really enjoyed being outside more! including going to the park just down the street.

With JJ's two year birthday on the horizon we made a big change! we moved JJ downstairs... I think he slept better than I did, especially since it was quieter down there. This is the furthest JJ has been away from us and he made a great adjustment!

Some days this kid is 2 going on 12...

For JJ's birthday I let him help me make cupcakes, he really wanted to eat the batter before we baked them.

and he snuck a few bites while I was measuring

After they were baked he got to help me put sprinkles on them, and eat a few himself.

What a goofy kid!

He liked the cupcake OK but really just wanted to eat the sprinkles

We got JJ an awesome play house for his birthday but since we didn't have it put together yet we wanted something else for him to open, so we picked out a couple squirt guns to play with once the weather warmed up.

He was totally excited.

To celebrate JJ's birthday we went to the Zoo, he thought it was awesome!

He loved all the animals but really had fun watching the seals.

Later on in the month my family came to visit!!! they've made it tradition to come for spring break every year since JJ was born, and it never gets old!

I don't have a ton of pictures from their trip here because I was busy enjoying the moments with them. They were awesome enough to help us get pretty much the whole living area painted! I cannot believe what a difference some new paint makes! we used Sherwin Williams Sea Salt, which I am totally in love with!

doesn't it look so much brighter?

the whole family got into it, my dad did a ton of things... patching drywall, filling holes, cutting in, and installing our new ceiling fan.

My mom washed walls, patched, sanded, caulked, cut in, and painted.

yep I got to help too! painting is one of my favorite things to do!

Spencer enjoyed helping too.

Braeden helped when he could but JJ was very, very fond of playing with him.

Justin even got in on the painting a bit! although he was glad most of it was done while he was at work.

JJ always loves having grandma, grandpa and the boys here, and that he gets to stay up late! The boys also spent some time skiing. Spencer and my Dad went 3 times! we ate some delicious meals! including Rodizio, and Red Lobster for birthdays, and just enjoyed hanging out together!

This goon fed grandma ice cream, and was hamming it up!

This is how JJ slurps his noodles... super funny to watch!

what a cute little minion, grandma made him the awesome towel.

JJ and I made cookies, and when they're too warm to resist they get everywhere.

Daddy apparently has a hard time getting JJ dressed when baseball is on TV.

Shortly after his birthday and my parents visit we got started building JJ's awesome play house!

I love any chance to use power tools!

Yep March was good to us! Happy 2 years to this little goof ball, can't wait to enjoy many more fun birthdays with you!
