Chasing Geese

One of our favorite summer activities is to meet up for lunch for a picnic, and our favorite place is Decker Lake.

Here is a rare picture of all of us together enjoying our lunch at Decker Lake.

After lunch Justin decided he wanted to chase the geese with JJ, they had lots of fun chasing and watching the geese and swans.

Oh how I love to see these two playing and enjoying time together.

Once JJ figured out he could walk over by the geese he wasn't happy just enjoying lunch. he tried to motion for Justin and I to come over so he could see the geese again.

Bees with the Hopes

In May we had 4 tickets to the bees game and last minute we texted our friends the Hopes and they were able to come! Last summer we enjoyed a few bees game with a smaller JJ and a pregnant Jenny. This was little Melanie's first Bee's game!!! at one of our last bee's games Jenny and I sat next to each other with the boys on either side of us... they didn't get to talk much and have joked about it ever since. This time we put them next to each other and even let them handle the kids for a little while.

JJ played with Jenny and his new Salt Lake Bees hat (an awesome promotion for buying honey and bringing in your receipt)

I even got to squish this little one for a little while.

What good Daddy's they are :) for taking the kids.

Melanie loved watching the game although she got a little distracted by her toy monkey.

JJ enjoyed watching the game upside down this time, what a silly kid.

Melanie was time for bed and getting a little chilly so Jenny wrapped her up in her sweatshirt and helped her take a little nap.

Melanie totally looked like a Jedi all wrapped up in the sweatshirt hood.

Near the end of the game, the Bee's mascot came over to say hello and JJ was not a fan! he looked really worried and kept reaching for Justin. To keep the kids occupied the boys stood a few rows over and tried to get the munchkins to sleep.

We are so glad the Hopes were able to come with us and glad to have the Hopes as our partners in crime, we can't wait for more adventures with them this summer!

We Love Our Bees

Early in May we went to cheer on the Bees with Sue and Leonard. We are so lucky to have the ballpark so close and be able to see some of the Angels play.

That night was breast cancer night at the ballpark, although we missed the pink memo.

We had awesome seats for this game!

JJ seems to enjoy watching the game just as much as he enjoys climbing on all of us and eating snacks.

JJ even gave me a few kisses that night and we were lucky enough to catch it on camera.

Aren't these two cute :) Sue comes even though she's not a huge fan of baseball.

Happy Birthday Justin!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JUSTIN!!!

I'm grateful for the birthdays I've been able to enjoy with you these last 4 years. Looking on facebook I found this picture from one of the first parties I went to in California. Here are Justin and I right next to each other, I think we even talked  that night. But I didn't see his good looks and charm until a few months later :)

I am so grateful that he chased me down until I said yes to our first date! and We've stuck together ever since, and we have an eternity to look forward too!

Now our life adventure has brought us to Utah, and we are loving it here.

Just a few facts about Justin:

He loves the Lakers, Angels, USC, and anyone on his fantasy baseball team.
He loves to go on adventures, play sports and be goofy.

His secret addictions are chips and salsa, and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies.

He is wonderful at writing stories and poems

and He loves to play!

It's so wonderful to see Justin and JJ playing together and am grateful for the dad he has become.

Thank you for being you and inspiring me to be the best I can and I hope JJ grows up to be just like you!!!

Hope you have another wonderful birthday my love!

(These posts are out of order... Real salt lake was in may but I just had to sneak in a happy birthday!)

Real Salt Lake

Thanks to the pass of all passes we bought we have been able to go to more games than we would normally. Back in April we went to a Real Salt Lake (reserve squad) game. It was a gorgeous day out although it was pretty windy.

As soon as we sat down in our seats JJ pointed and said "ball!" and then he clapped, this kid is seriously cute!

Justin is having so much fun telling JJ all about sports and is teaching him how to play in the backyard.

Such a goofy dad! (he's trying to hold JJ's two fingers up)

The stadium is very nice and open although I can't imagine it being nice when its cold.

JJ has so much fun pulling on Justin's sweatshirt strings and goofing off with his daddy.

Watching the game was fun although it got pretty cold and very windy!

Hopefully we get the chance to cheer on Real Salt Lake at another day, with a little more sunshine!

Outdoor Loving

As soon as the weather warmed all we wanted to do was be outside! Between getting the yard ready, planting, and keeping the kids busy we spend lots of time with our feet in the grass. JJ has discovered all of the fun things to do out there.

JJ likes riding in the cozy coup, since he can "drive" it himself.

Crazy William Godfrey, JJ's best buddy. The Godfrey's are my "cousins" (grand kids of the great aunt and uncle we live with) moved back from Ohio and come over to visit often.

Jake and CJ Godfrey playing soccer.

Anna Godfrey who sometimes is too shy to say hi to me, but sometimes you get a smile.

Justin, JJ and I spending some family time out on the swing set.

Sue and Leonard have two fountains in their backyard and JJ has made them into his own personal water park. When they turned on the fountains JJ climbed right in!

After soaking his clothes I decided it was time to change into his swimsuit to play in the water, although he took some time to smell the flowers first.

JJ's first time in the kiddie pool, he really liked it although it was pretty cold.

Look at that cute little body!

We have also enjoyed eating dinner outside under the pergola. Our first outside dinner was corn chowder, biscuits, and AMAZING homemade strawberry jam (which I helped make)

Instead of hauling JJ's high chair outside we hook his swing to the pergola and use it as a high chair.

Sue and Leonard enjoying the outdoors.

In the Awesome backyard that Sue and Leonard have there is a sandbox.

I was getting a little artsy taking pictures while the kids played.

Our lilacs were in full bloom and made the yard smell amazing.

And our Strawberry patch started blooming, I can't wait till we have strawberries to eat!

One of our favorite parts of the summer is our lunch picnics, so we can see Justin in the middle of the day. One of our most visited places is Decker Lake, a little oasis right here in Salt Lake City.

This was JJ's first time at Decker Lake since he can walk and crawl and he couldn't wait to explore.

Justin tried to cuddle with his little man.

Justin loves to swing and play in the backyard with JJ, and probably can't wait till he has a few more little ones to make his own baseball team in the backyard.

We really have been enjoying our time outside and can't wait for it to be warm enough to go to the water park with the little man!
