Hugie Famly Reunion

In July we were able to attend the Hugie family reunion out in Croydon. Everyone got together for food, games and lots of catching up. It was a beautiful day albeit blazing hot! JJ really liked watching the horses through the fence.

After dinner all of the kids lined up against the fence to prepare for the... CANDY CANNON!

yeah you heard right, a candy cannon. Much more awesome than a simple piƱata!

The kids had a blast and JJ even got in on the action.

JJ managed to pick up a few tootsie rolls the other kids left behind.

As if that wasn't enough sugar for the kids, they held a pie eating contest. To make the contest more fair they divided the kids up in age groups. JJ didn't win and barely broke into his pie during the contest.

Next up were Kayden and Jocelyn, the older the kids got the more determined and funnier they were.

after the contest JJ continued to eat and got messier by the minute.

The last age group was the adults, Justin's dad Kim (left) and Brother Dave (right) were all smiles before they started eating... they weren't quite so happy after they finished though...

to wash off all of the pie faces they filled a trough with water, Justin took JJ over to wash him off.

I love the texture the fence shadow makes on JJ's skin.

This is Justin's cousin Tiffany dunking her son after he shoved pie in her face, then she shoved it in his.

And Tiffany and her sister Jenni throwing him in the water for revenge.

The scenery was gorgeous since we were surrounded by mountains.

JJ started spitting water at JJ... My husband is so talented!

The drive home was just as inspiring with the sun setting and the moon rising, we had a great time at the family reunion and are thankful to have so much family here in Utah.

The 4th of July

This year for July 4th we celebrated on the 3rd since the fireworks were that night and I had to work the next day. We ate dinner at the Chattertons house and then played outside until it was time for fireworks. JJ really liked playing with this squirt gun shaped like a shark although he couldn't quite figure out how to shoot it.

Our good friends the Hopes came and brought their darling squish Melanie, who is very fond of drinking out of a water bottle.

JJ played a little croquet while waiting for dark to fall.

Once it was dark enough we pulled out the good old sparklers and let JJ hold his first one (with daddy's help of course)

He was mesmerized from the start!

And Melanie got a look too, and after that these kids were hooked.

I tried to take my turn writing with the sparklers but failed trying to write July, a star was much easier and faster.

Kayden proudly holding her sparkler and wearing her flag shirt.

Melanie is Super adorable and very affectionate, she just wanted to give mommy a kiss.

Finally the fireworks started over at Rio Tinto Stadium, right next to where we were sitting, they were amazing! and sometimes a little close for comfort.

I tried to get a picture of us watching the fireworks, but didn't want to us the flash. I used a super low shutter speed and sat down really fast.

I was hoping to use the same technique for my picture of JJ, but my flash fired and we got this. This I probably the last picture we have of JJ drinking a bottle before we switched to a cup with a straw.

On 4th of July I had to work but came home to the Looney extended family lighting off fireworks in the street and was still able to enjoy some of the festivities.

Summer strolls

Life just never seems to slow down around here and I'm guessing that won't change anytime soon. Finally I've gotten around to putting more summer up on the blog, It started out lovely and warm and then turned to BLAZING hot! we took some time early on in the month and went to the park. JJ and Justin had lots of fun climbing up the hill and running down

It was quite the steep hill for such a little boy but he loved the feeling of running down after climbing up.

Murray Park is one of our favorite spots around here, it has lots of grass, trees, flowers, and ducks. JJ loves to watch the ducks and the people walking their dogs.

Another awesome part about summer is all of the delicious fruit! this is JJ eating his first nectarine, he loved it! and would eat one everyday at every meal if we would let him.

We Celebrated Fathers day and June and July birthdays with the Looney side of the family, don't they have an awesome backyard?

For Fathers day one of Leonard's kids framed his jersey, cleats, trophy, and letters from High School running.

Justin got golf balls for his birthday! Sue and Leonard know him so well!!!

JJ tried to swing on the big kid swing but kept slipping off.

This was the big moon that happened at the end of June. I had to get at least one picture of it although it's not as awesome as some I've seen.

I was also lucky enough to participate in our girls camp this year. We did a temple camp and were able to attend the draper and oquirrh mountain temples. I love being able to go to the temple especially with the youth.

These are some of the crazy goofs I spent my time with!

Some of our young women, the leaders and our stake relief society president.

This is what my nights look like when I get to spend them with Justin and JJ, JJ is getting his silliness and goofiness from his daddy that's for sure.
